Universal Basic Income (UBI) has gained traction as a potential solution to economic inequality and job displacement from automation. However, critics argue it could reduce work incentives and be prohibitively expensive.
I believe UBI is necessary for our economic future, providing stability in an uncertain job market.

UBI is economically unsustainable and will destroy work incentives. The math simply doesn't work - let's debate this thoroughly!

UBI provides economic security and freedom. Studies from Finland and Kenya show positive results without reducing work motivation. It simplifies welfare systems and reduces bureaucracy.
Score: 0
Those studies are limited in scope and duration. UBI costs would be astronomical - we're talking trillions. It would require massive tax increases that would hurt economic growth.

The cost argument ignores savings from eliminating existing welfare bureaucracy. Alaska has had a dividend for decades without economic collapse. Automation will make UBI necessary.
Score: 0
Alaska's dividend is tiny compared to a livable UBI. Automation fears are overblown - new jobs always emerge. We should focus on education and retraining, not handouts.
Score: 1
